The Team.
Dr. Pilar Margarita Hernández Escontrías
Dr. Hernández Escontrías is an anthropologist and social scientist by training, having completed her A.B. at Princeton University, her M.Phil at Cambridge University, her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at Northwestern University, and her J.D. at University of California at Irvine. Her research interests lie at the intersection of criminal law, immigration law, social science, and critical race theory.
Donna Saadati-Soto
Donna Saadati-Soto is a graduate of Harvard Law School. During her time at Harvard, she served as a student attorney with the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, heading the immigration practice group. As a member of the Bureau, she represented an appellant before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in an international child custody dispute. Donna also served as the Executive Editor of the Harvard Latinx Law Review. She is immensely interested in the intersection of immigration, family, and criminal law, viewed through a racial justice lens. Donna holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University.
Emily Croucher
Emily Croucher is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine School of Law and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is a public defender in rural Kentucky with the Department of Public Advocacy.
